Fans mock Karius' gloves during Newcastle's Carabao Cup final. What’s the story behind it?

Former Liverpool keeper suffers another setback as fans take to social media to poke fun at his gloves during Wembley debut.
Loris Karius joined Newcastle United for a free last summer and received criticism from fans for his choice of gloves in his Wembley debut against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
Karius was handed the opportunity to start after Newcastle's No.2 goalkeeper Martin Dubravka was cup-tied, and Nick Pope was sent off during their match against Liverpool.
Despite warming up nervously before the game, Karius was not able to change his fortunes as he found himself and Newcastle trailing 2-0 at halftime.
Eagle-eyed supporters noticed his gloves, and many took to social media to mock Karius, claiming that he bought them from B&Q. One fan tweeted, "Karius wearing world war 2 gloves," while another commented, "did he have to dig his gloves out of the work shed?"
Karius famously had a nightmare in the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid, and he had not played a competitive game in two years before the Carabao Cup final. Fans were worried about his performance before the game, and the mocking of his gloves on social media did not help matters.
Despite the criticism, Karius was not the only one to blame for Newcastle's loss in the final. They were already trailing 1-0 when Karius entered the game, and they could not find a way back into the match. The loss means that Newcastle has not won a major trophy since the 1955 FA Cup, and their wait continues.
At that time, Karius scored two goals from two very naive mistakes, so the match ended for “Al-Merenji” 3-1, and the blond goalkeeper left the stadium with his eyes filled with tears as he tried to apologize to the “Reds” fans before he quickly left the team.
