Mbappe denies criticizing PSG teammate Neymar, hopes he returns soon

Paris Saint-Germain talisman Kylian Mbappe has revealed that the statements he made regarding players’ discipline earlier were not directed towards teammate Neymar Jr. The Frenchman cleared the air in an interview after PSG’s 4-3 Ligue 1 victory over LOSC Lille on Sunday. Kylian Mbappe says the last thing Paris Saint-Germain needs right now is internal divisions, and cannot understand why his quotes calling for his teammates to eat and sleep well have been interpreted as a criticism of Neymar. Speaking after Lionel Messi's magical match-winning free kick against Lille - a game in which Neymar was stretchered off - Mbappe said his words were to all his teammates. Mbappe scored two goals against Lille to lead PSG to an exciting victory over rival 4-3 after he returned to the victories track that they missed in the last stage against Monaco. Kylian Mbappé: “I was never attacking or pointing the finger at Neymar when I mentioned we need to eat & sleep well”. “I hope Neymar’s injury is not serious, I hope he returns soon — we need him with us”.Mbappe clarified enthusiastically, saying: "[They were] for everyone. For everyone! I've seen people talking about Ney and what happened afterward. it was not a dig or anything. I think in the context we are in now, we need anything but digs. It's really advice for everyone because, as I said, when we have everyone, other teams have problems. So I hope Ney will come back soon because he's a fundamental player for us." On Sunday though, the Brazilian scored one of PSG's four goals in their 4-3 win against Lille and assisted another before suffering an apparently severe ankle injury and being stretchered from the field. Neymar raised concern about the nature of his injury after he kept crying as he left the stadium on a stretcher, while Galtier said, "It is possible that there is a sprain in the ankle, we will see the extent of the severity. It is being examined now."
