An Iranian investor set to launch $3.75bn takeover bid for Tottenham Hotspur

Press reports revealed that the Iranian-American billionaire, Jahm Najafi, is preparing with a group of investors to make an offer of $3.75 billion (£3.1 billion) to acquire ownership of Tottenham Hotspur. According to the American newspaper "Financial Times", Al-Najafi, who heads MSP Sports Capital, is working with a consortium to prepare the structure of the huge offer to buy Tottenham, and the group is expected to communicate with Tottenham owner Joe Louis and Chairman Daniel Levy in the coming weeks. The newspaper added that the billionaire Najafi will get 70% of the ownership of Tottenham, while the rest of the investors will get 30%, with the possibility that these supporters will come from the Gulf, especially Abu Dhabi. The newspaper pointed out that the offer, valued at 3.1 billion pounds, consists of the club's ownership value of about 2.5 billion pounds, before adding about 610 million pounds of the club's debt. The newspaper indicated that this news will be welcomed by Tottenham fans because it will mark the end of the unpopular ownership of ENIC, which acquired the club in 2000 from Lord Sugar.
