Leicester’s game vs Crystal Palace paused to allow players to break Ramadan fast

The Crystal Palace and Leicester City encounter witnessed a human goodness between the players of the two teams, while the matches were played during the fasting period in the month of Ramadan.

Leicester City won 2-1 in the 33rd round of the English Premier League.

During the 34th minute of the first half, the referee halted the Premier League match mid-game to allow a Muslim player to take a break and end his Ramadan fast.

Leicester defender Wesley Fofana and Koyate from Crystal Palace had some drinks for breakfast. The game was paused after 30 minutes following sunset to allow Fofana and Crystal Palace defender Cheikhou Kouyate to take in some water and energy gels on the side of the pitch.

The event is the first of its kind in the English Premier League, where the players of the two teams agreed on this halt before the start of the match.

Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guiata then delayed taking a goal kick after 30 minutes so that the referee halts the match.
