Argentina midfielder Enzo Fernandez became the most expensive player in British football history. Enzo Fernandez the newcomer to Chelsea from Benfica during the last winter transfers period joined the list of the most expensive deals in football history. The January 2023 transfer window has now closed, with a host of big-money signings having been made. The two biggest of all involved Chelsea as they signed Enzo Fernandez on Deadline Day for €121 million from Benfica, having earlier in the month hijacked Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhailo Mudryk from under Arsenal's noses for €100m.
A chaotic deadline day brought curtains to an eventful end to the first transfer window of 2023, with almost all major clubs bringing in reinforcements ahead of the business end of the season.
Chelsea succeeded in signing Enzo Fernandez, paying the value of the penalty clause of 121 million euros, to become the sixth most expensive deal in the world of football.
Fernandez recently starred with his Argentine national team, which was crowned in the last FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. He was one of the stars of the Tango who contributed to winning the world title.

The most expensive footballer in history is Neymar following his transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. The Brazilian left Camp Nou for PSG in a move worth €222m (£200m), ending an impressive four-year stay with Barca.

3- Frenchman Osman Dembele joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in 2017, with 140 million euros.
