PSG receives a painful blow as Mbappe picked up an injury against Montpellier

Paris Saint Germain received a blow to their Champions League aspirations as Mbappe was stretchered off at Stade de Lamosson on Wednesday in the 21st round. French star and PSG Kylian striker was injured during the match against Montpellier, which PSG won 3-1. World Cup winner Lionel Messi scored and Kylian Mbappé missed a twice-taken penalty before getting injured as PSG won 3-1 at Montpellier to move five points clear at the top of the French league. The World Cup star then went off injured midway through the first half against Montpellier. Mbappe then limped off with what looked like a hamstring injury midway through the first half, raising the alarm for PSG with the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie against Bayern Munich now less than two weeks away. Mbappé went down clutching his leg just under the right knee and limped off in the 21st minute — having earlier missed a twice-taken penalty and blazed the rebound over an open goal on his second effort. It was unclear exactly what his injury was. Television cameras also caught him rubbing the back of his left thigh as he walked to the dressing room. The French newspaper L'Equipe reported that there are doubts about Mbappe's appearance in front of Bayern Munich in the round 16th of the Champions League. The newspaper added that Mbappe suffers from a knee injury, and will undergo medical examinations to detect his injury, but it seems that he will not join Bayern Munich’s European position. Paris Saint-Germain raised its score to 51 points in the lead, while Montpellier's balance froze at 20 points in 14th place.
