Cancelo makes a shock switch from Man City to Bayern Munich

Spanish press reports revealed an expected quiet end to the transfer window for Premier League champions Manchester City exploded into life on Monday when it emerged Joao Cancelo was set to join Bayern Munich in a shock loan move. As first reported, the Portugal international is set to join the Bundesliga giants on loan until the end of this season. Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo looks set to join Bayern Munich on loan before the end of the January transfer window. The 28-year-old has fallen out of favor under head coach Pep Guardiola, but up until recently, the Portugal international was a key part of City’s starting eleven and could now be about to leave the reigning Premier League champions. The Spanish newspaper “Sport” stated that Barcelona entered into negotiations with Cancelo in order to sign him on loan during the current winter Mercato, with the presence of the purchase clause, but the player preferred Bayern Munich, due to his presence in the Champions League. The newspaper explained that the Portuguese right-back will complete on Tuesday the procedures for joining the Bavarian on loan until the end of the current season. The 28-year-old has fallen out of favor under Pep Guardiola and now could be about to make a last-minute switch to Bayern. The English press reports revealed the reason for Cancels’s departure from City during the current transfer period due to differences between him and Spanish coach Pep Guardiola which caused him to move away from the key squad.
