Pele's widow shares thank you message a month after his death

Pele's widow Márcia Aoki shared a thank you message a month after his death on Pele's official Twitter account. A month after the death of football icon Pele, his wife thanked him for the many expressions of sympathy from around the world. Saying goodbye to Pele will take a long time, his widow Marcia Aoki said in an open letter posted to Pelé’s social media accounts on Sunday. She feels an emptiness squeezing her chest, but also huge gratitude for the opportunity to share her pain with the whole world, Aoki wrote. We have received millions of messages of love and solidarity that have filled our hearts with comfort and peace. Brazilian football icon Pelé died of cancer on December 29 at the age of 82. Pele left behind Aoki and seven children. With 77 goals in 92 international matches, Edson Arantes do Nascimento, as the striker was called by his full name, holds the record for most goals for the Brazilian national team. The world governing body FIFA named the three-time world champion – along with Argentine Diego Maradona, who died a good two years ago – “Player of the 20th century.
