Manchester United still wants to sign Barça's De Jong

UK press reports indicated that Manchester United remains interested in signing the Dutchman and is convinced the club can convince him to sign Barcelona midfielder de Jong after failing to sign the player during the Mercato last summer. According to the "Manchester Evening News" newspaper, Manchester United has got to work on reopening negotiations to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the coming summer, which is considered a major target for Dutch coach Tin Hag.
The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona wants to extend De Young's contract, but with reduced financial conditions in light of the financial crisis that the Catalan club is going through, which United will seek to exploit by presenting an attractive financial offer.
De Jong joined Barca in the summer of 2019, coming from Dutch Ajax in a five-year contract for €75m (£65.3m).
