Roberto Martinez named new Portugal national football team manager- Official

The Portuguese Football Federation officially named former Belgium coach Roberto Martinez as their new manager on Monday to succeed Fernando Santos as coach of the Brazil European national team. Martinez, 49 years old, replaces Fernando Santos, who left his job after Portugal suffered a shock defeat by Morocco in the World Cup quarter-finals. The Portuguese Federation announced on its official website on Twitter its agreement with the Spaniard, to take over the leadership of the Euro 2016 and Nations League 2019 champions. Roberto Martinez received several offers from clubs and national teams after being eliminated with Belgium from the group stage of the last World Cup, most notably Brazil. The Portuguese national team has previously been associated with many coaches, such as Jose Mourinho, Bruno Lage, Paulo Fennica, Roy Jorge, as well as Zidane and Enrique. But it seems that Roberto Martinez is the new coach of Portugal. Portugal's first target will be to qualify for Euro 2024 in light of its presence with Bosnia, Iceland, Luxembourg, Slovakia, and Liechtenstein in the group. The Spanish coach became the first coach in the history of the Portuguese Federation in 109 years, who does not speak Portuguese as his mother tongue.
Roberto Martinez won the FA Cup with Wigan Athletic in 2013, and the World Cup bronze with Belgium in 2018, but he did not win a title with the Red Devils throughout his career.
