Barcelona examines Lewandowski’s availability against Atletico Madrid

FC Barcelona believes that Robert Lewandowski will be able to appear against Atletico Madrid in the expected encounter scheduled for next Sunday in the 16th round of La Liga. According to Diaro SPORT, Barcelona is waiting for the judgment of the Central Administrative Court number 2 in Madrid. The judge is expected to hear the plea from all involved parties, including Barcelona, and the Tribunal Administrative del Deporte (TAD), which had earlier rejected the club’s plea for the ban to be overturned. However, a final verdict may not come until next week considering the fact that Friday is a holiday as the entire state of Spain celebrates the Three Kings Feast. With no verdict until next week, there might be a possibility that Lewandowski will be eligible to feature against Atletico Madrid, which will be played on Sunday. But nothing is conclusive just yet and Barça may have to wait a few more days to learn the true fate of the Polish international this weekend. Espanyol has lodged an official complaint to the Spanish FA against Barcelona starting Robert Lewandowski in their La Liga clash on New Year’s Eve. The 34-year-old striker was slapped with a three-match suspension following his red card in Barca's 2-1 win away to Osasuna on November 8. Lewandowski was sent off for just the second time in his prestigious career, having picked up two yellow cards in the first half of the hotly-contested La Liga clash - during which teammate Gerard Pique also saw red, despite not even playing.
