Return date set for Argentina captain Messi's and PSG intend to renew his contract - Reports

Press reports revealed that Argentina captain Lionel Messi's return date to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is not yet fixed as he celebrates the 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph. The French club wants to go ahead with a new contract for the Argentine, just as they did months ago with Madrid and the frustrated signing of Kylian Mbappe. Argentina won the World Cup for the third time in its history at the expense of its French counterpart with a penalty shootout with a score of 4-2 after the end of the regular and extra time with a positive tie 3-3.
CBS Sports reported that Messi, who won the 2022 World Cup, will not return to Paris Saint-Germain training before the first of next January. The report added that Paris Saint-Germain will start talks about a new contract and the club prefers to put in place a new one-year deal with an extension for an additional year, rather than activate the current one-year extension. Messi's contract with PSG expires next summer, as he joined the team in the summer of 2021 in a free transfer deal, after his departure from his former club, Barcelona, Spain.
