Infantino hails Qatar World Cup as the 'best ever in history

FIFA president Gianni Infantino lauded Qatar for its efforts in hosting the tournament, describing Qatar World Cup 2022 as the 'best ever' world cup event, describing Qatar hosting edition as a unique and exceptional one. Infantino pointed out that the best team was the one that won the title, saying that the Argentine national team deserved to win the title in Qatar, and the French national team deserved it as well. Infantino indicated that the final was a great game and I think the feelings are indescribable for everyone who watched the final at Lusail Stadium, and the fans who watched it on TV all over the world. The FIFA President spoke about the achievement of the Argentine national team star, Lionel Messi, and said: “Lionel Messi has finally won the FIFA World Cup, and can claim to be the greatest male footballer of all time. This achievement is something exceptional and it is beautiful to present the World Cup to an exceptional player. What he achieved is beyond description, and it is a unique feeling for all football fans, to see this happening as they win the World Cup.” Regarding the FIFA  2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by 3 countries: the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada, Infantino said: “We will start working from today to make it another exceptional edition, as the three countries will host 48 teams, and we have a distinguished group of young players who appeared in the World Cup Qatar. We have seen a French team full of young stars and many other teams that have ignited the energies of youth, and therefore we expect the next edition to be great as well, and confirm that football is a magical game.”
