Deschamps: It’s difficult to set out a plan to counter Messi’s threats!

France national team manager Didier Deschamps wants to see his team “limit” the impact of Argentina forward Lionel Messi in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“You know it's going to be a tough final with  Messi, the stadium full of Argentinians, but you can trust us, we'll be ready and in good shape for this match," Deschamps told TF1.

He added: “it will be a very good match, the argentines are strong, they worked well, leo played a great match against Croatia. We feel he is good and calm in his moves, but it is up to us to prepare well for this match. We will recover and do everything to be 100% ready for Sunday ".

“He looks in great shape and of course he is one of the best players in the world so we will try to counter Messi’s threat as much as possible, just as Argentina will try to stop the influence of some of my players."

However they must prepare to face an Argentina side who have been inspired on their way to the final by Messi and who will be seeking revenge for a 4-3 defeat when the teams met in the last 16 four years ago.

"Messi has been in scintillating form since the start of the tournament," Dechamp’s admitted.

A day after Messi led Argentina to a 3-0 victory over Croatia in the semifinal round, France stamped its ticket to the world cup final with a 2-0 victory against morocco on Wednesday.

He stressed, "it will be difficult to determine where he will play to make a plan for him unless he is not sick. I really do not wish that."

France qualified for the final after beating morocco 2-0, while Argentina qualified overtakes  Croatia 3-0.
