Portugal backs Mourinho to become next national manager by current boss Santos

Press reports revealed that Former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Mourinho has been backed and powered interest in coaching a national side by the Portuguese Football Association to become Portugal’s next manager by current boss Santos.  Morocco is through to the FIFA World Cup semi-finals, becoming the first African team at this advanced stage, after a battling 1-0 win over Portugal in the quarter-finals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Santos, Portugal's most successful coach of all time, has given compatriot Mourinho his blessing to replace him when his contract expires. The Portuguese newspaper "Apolla" headlined that the Portuguese Federation will offer Mourinho to coach the national team and replace coach Fernando Santos, who is close to leaving (Europe’s Brazil) leadership after the World Cup exit.
The newspaper added that Mourinho is expected to agree to the offer of the Portuguese Federation, with the possibility of combining the training of the Portuguese national team and the Roma club at one time. The Portuguese national team is preparing for the Euro 2024 qualifiers in Germany, which will start next March 2023.
