Messi eyes record-fest in Argentina's FIFA World Cup when clash against Croatia

Argentina talisman and PSG star Lionel Messi is all set to rewrite history at the FIFA World Cup 2022 on Wednesday. Messi-led Argentina will meet Luka Modric's Croatia in the first semi-final of the FIFA World Cup Qatar at Lusail Stadium. If Messi is featured in this game, he will raise his score to 25 matches, to equal with Lothar Matthaus who holds the record for the most football World Cup appearances by a player. He played 25 matched, one ahead of fellow German Miroslav Klose who also tops the all-time scorer's list across the 21 editions of the men's FIFA World Cup held so far.
Messi scored his appearance in 24 matches with the Argentine national team in the World Cup since the 2006 edition until now, to come runner-up in the list of the most participating in the history of the World Cup, on an equal footing with German Miroslav Klose.
During his World Cup career with Argentina, Messi scored 10 goals in addition to 7 assists, before facing Croatia. Messi participated in 5 matches in the World Cup Qatar 2022, during which he scored 4 goals to come second among the top scorers of the current version, and he also scored two other goals.
