Morocco makes further World Cup history records as they reach the semi-finals

Morocco wrote World Cup history on Saturday night as the first African and Arab country to reach the tournament’s semi-finals, overtaking on Portuguese counterpart1-0 in the quarter-final at Al-Thumama stadium. Morocco will face their French opponents in the semi-finals of the World Cup2022 next Wednesday at “Al-Bayt” stadium.
The Atlantic Lions made several records, which we review below:
1- Morocco became the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
2- Youssef Al-Nusairi becomes the historical top scorer for the Moroccan national team with 3 goals, and now the top scorer for the Arabs, along with Sami Al-Jaber, Salem Al-Dosari, and Wahbi Al-Khazri.
3- Morocco became the first team to concede a single goal after its first 5 matches during the World Cup since Italy in 2006.
4- Morocco is the first African team in history to beat a European team in the knockout stage of the World Cup during the regular time of the match.
5- Morocco is the first team to eliminate Portugal from the World Cup quarter-finals.
6- Morocco made its second victory over Portugal in the World Cup, after the 1986 edition 3-1.
7- Morocco is the third team outside Europe and South America to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals, after the USA in 1930 and South Korea in 2002.
