Morocco makes history against free- scoring Portugal as First Arab -African in World Cup Quarter-Finals

Morocco make history as the first African Arab team to reach the semi-finals.

Youssef Al-Nusairi scored the winning goal for Morocco against Portugal with a wonderful header in the 42nd minute of the match.

Youssef Al-Nusairi scored more  three goals in the World Cup  than any other Moroccan player in the history of the tournament, to top the list of historical scorers for the Atlas Lions in the World Cup.

Youssef Al-Nusairi became the fourth Arab player to score 3 goals in the World Cup, preceded by: Sami Al-Jaber, Wahbi Al-Khazri, and Salem Al-Dosari.

The Moroccan team is scheduled to face up in the semi-finals with the winner of the fiery encounter between France and England on Saturday.

The Moroccan national team lineup as follow:

Goalkeeper: Yassine Bounou

Defenders: Ashraf Hakimi - Jawad Al-Yamiq - Roman Sayes - Yahya Atiyatallah

Midfielders: Sufyan Amrabat - Ezzedine Onahi - Salim Amlah

Forwards: Sufyan Boufal - Hakim Ziyech - Youssef Al-Nusairi

While the Portugal squad included:

Goalkeeper: Costa

Defenders: Dalot, Ruben Diaz, Pepe, Rafael Guerrero

Midfielders: Bernardo Silva, Ottavio, Carvalho, Bruno Fernandez

Forwards: Joao Felix, Ramos.

The Moroccan qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup Qatar 2022, after stunning  Spain with a penalty shootout3-0 after the end of the full and extra time with a goalless draw. While the Portugue reached the same round with  victory over Switzerland 6-1.

Ronaldo leaves the field in tears, but this game was about the Atlas Lions and an incredible team.
