Germany Bierhoff leaves role after World Cup debacle and disappointment results

The German Football Association decided to terminate the contract of team manager Oliver Bierhoff, in response to the disappointing exit of the German machinery team, from the group stage of the 2022 World Cup, which is currently being held in Qatar and will continue until December 18.
Bierhoff and the German Football Association (DFB) have agreed “to terminate his contract, which runs until 2024, early,” the Association said in a statement. Germany’s team director Oliver Bierhoff stepped aside two years early after his country crashed out in the group stage for the second consecutive World Cup.
Bierhoff said: "After 18 years in responsible positions in the German Federation, I resigned from my position as General Manager of the National and Academic teams with immediate effect. I agreed on this day with President Bernd Neuendorf. I am paving the way for new directions."
DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said in a statement: "Oliver Bierhoff has done a lot for the DFB, and his name will remain associated with success even if we fail to achieve our sporting goals in the past few tournaments." The German national team had bid farewell to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, after finishing third in Group E, behind Japan and Spain, to crash out of the World Cup in the group stage for the second edition in a row.
