World Cup history for Spain in 7-0 thrashing of feeble Costa Rica

Spain began their World Cup campaign with a sublime performance as they thrashed a hapless Costa Rica 7-0 in Al-Thumama Stadium on Wednesday, in the first round of Group E competitions for the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Spain achieved their biggest win in World Cup history, becoming the first team to score seven goals from just eight shots on target in a single game in the history of the tournament since 1966.
It was the first time Spain scored seven goals in a World Cup match, and the first time a team completed 1,000 passes in a 90-minute game at the tournament. (Excluding extra time).
Spain completed passes 976 which Scored tells us is more than Iran, Costa Rica, Saudi Arabia, Japan, and Poland have managed combined at this World Cup (906).
Spain is the sixth team to score 100+ goals in the history of the World Cup, after Brazil (229), Germany (227), Argentina (138), Italy (128), and France (124).
