A bloody injury to Iran's goalkeeper 10 minutes after facing England

Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand was left with blood pouring from his head following a sickening clash against England - eventually being stretchered off before the Three Lions ran riot.
Iran goalkeeper Alireza Beiranvand initially refused to be substituted despite being left with blood pouring from his nose following a sickening head clash in their World Cup opener against England.
Beiranvand went down in agony after incidentally being headbutt by his team-mate following an England cross - with medical staff running to his aid.
After a lengthy check, in which he looked weak on his feet and a team-mate splashed water on his face, a clearly groggy Beiranvand changed his shirt and attempted to continue despite huge worry from supporters. England line up came as follows: Goalkeepers: Jordan Pickford Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Luke Shaw, John Stones, Kieran Trippier. Midfielders: Declan Rice, Mason Mount, Jude Bellingham.
Forwards: Raheem Sterling, Bukayo Saka, Harry Kane.
The England national team records its appearance in the World Cup finals for the sixteenth time in its history, as it participated in 15 previous editions of the World Cup, with a total of 69 matches.
