Pep Guardiola: We struggled to beat Chelsea...Alvarez and Haaland can play together

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola confirmed that his team struggled to beat Chelsea 2-0 in the match that brought them together on Wednesday evening at the Etihad Stadium in the third round of the English League Cup. Guardiola praised forward Julian Alvarez's performance against Chelsea and believes he can play with Erling Haaland.
Manager Guardiola said: "Knowing the opponent and the quality they have, I am more than pleased. I am happy about all the performance of the players. We suffered because they are so good. When they gain the ball and they drive 40 metres we cannot defend that, they are really good."
Guardiola added, "We are happy to qualify for the next stage, we always play to win any game, this is the standard we set at this club." "We depend on Julian Alvarez 100%," the City coach added, "Haaland has problems with his foot, and he was not fully fit to participate."
On the possibility of Haaland and Alvarez participating together, Guardiola explained, "They can certainly do that, when we play with teams that defend very deep they can, good players can always play together."
