The draw for the play-off of the European League from the 2022-2023 season resulted in several fiery confrontations, perhaps the most prominent of which was the Manchester United team in a strong confrontation against Barcelona in the round of 16 of the tournament.
Manchester United will face Barcelona in the first knockout round of the Europa League in a tie featuring eight Champions League titles between the two teams. The draw for the next stage of the competition took place in Switzerland on Monday lunchtime, with several big hitters in the draw either via qualification in second place in their group or through dropping out of the Champions League.
United against Barcelona was the major tie of the draw, but Juventus and Ajax were among the other teams to find out their fate ahead of the play-off round. The clubs that ranked first in their group in the European League qualify directly to the round of 16, while the clubs that come in the runners-up play against the clubs relegated from the Champions League in the final price extension.
16 clubs qualified for the play-off round in the European League, representing eight clubs from the European Champions League, who ranked third in the group stage standings, and the same from the second place in the “Europe League” groups.
