Napoli sets a recorded history of 12 consecutive victories in all competitions
Led by coach Luciano Spalletti, Napoli strolled to a 3-0 win over Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday to set a club record of 12 consecutive victories in all competitions in the fifth round of the group stage of the Champions League at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium. Opta network, which specialized in statistics, stated that Napoli won the 12th match in a row, breaking the record for a series of consecutive victories in the club's history. Opta added that the longest winning streak for the South team was in 1987 under the leadership of historical coach Bianchi, with 11 consecutive victories in all tournaments.
Napoli also became the third Italian team to win each of their first five group stage matches in a single edition of the Champions League, after Milan in 1992/93 under Fabio Capello and Juventus in 2004/05 also under Capello.
With this victory, Napoli reached the full mark with points, achieving 5 victories in the first five rounds of the European Champions League, to decide his qualification for the round of 16 in the competition.
