Additional MRI tests will reveal the extent of Paulo Dybala's leg injury

Striker Paulo Dybala will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of a thigh injury he suffered in the match between Roma and Lecce on Sunday in the Italian Football League, a month and a half before the start of the Qatar World Cup 2022.
Roma star Paulo Dybala underwent some medical tests in Trigoria this afternoon which confirmed a left quadricep injury, reports detail. The 28-year-old Argentinian forward was left clutching his leg after netting a penalty in the Giallorossi’s 2-1 win over Lecce yesterday. The club was instantly concerned and fears began emerging that Dybala could miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar, a devastating blow for the former Juventus man.
As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Dybala underwent some ultrasounds today which confirmed the presence of an injury to his left quadriceps, caused by the strange movement of his leg during the penalty kick. The size and extent of the injury will be determined tomorrow with an MRI.
Roma is hoping to recover the 28-year-old within 25-30 days, but injuries of this type can vary from anywhere between four to eight weeks. It’s therefore likely that Dybala will miss every game in the run-up to the World Cup break next month – nine matches across all competitions – and his World Cup is still in doubt.
Argentina won the World Cup in 1978 and 1986 and will open the tournament on November 22 against Saudi Arabia in Group C before facing Mexico and Poland.
