Officially: Diego Costa joins Wolves to return to the Premier League
Wolverhampton FC that they have signed Diego Costa on a free transfer after losing fellow striker Sasa Kalajdzic to an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Wolves have snapped up Diego Costa to ease their striker crisis. The former Chelsea striker has signed a deal until the end of the season and has been a free agent. Wolverhampton was forced to sign Costa after Austrian striker Sasha Kalaidzic was injured recently, and Mexican Raul Jimenez moved away, suffering from muscle problems since the preparation period. Chairman Jeff Shi said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Diego Costa to Wolves, and back to the Premier League. Costa has a huge wealth of experience at the highest level, and he will bring something unique to the locker room and on the pitch."
Wolves had to appeal for a work permit after the 33-year-old did not automatically qualify and his initial application was rejected. Costa has been available since January after leaving Atletico Mineiro in Brazil. Costa joined the ranks of Chelsea in the summer of 2014 from Atletico Madrid for 38 million euros. He won two Premier League titles with Chelsea and scored 58 goals in 120 games in three years at Stamford Bridge and made 23, and crowns with Chelsea in the English Premier League during the years 2015 and 2017.
