Modrić nets outside-of-boot goal in 100th Champions League outing
Luka Modric, the Croatian star and Real Madrid's playmaker, has made his 100th Champions League appearance for Real Madrid in Glasgow against Celtic. The midfielder, who was on target against the Scottish side to make it 2-0 with an effort with the outside of his right foot, reaches this landmark in this, his 11th season at our club, where he has etched his name into football folklore after winning five European Cups.
Modric scored Real Madrid's second goal against Celtic, during the centenary match of the Croatian star in the Meringue shirt in the Champions League, and he is the only player in the history of the competition who scored in his centenary match with Real Madrid.
The Croatian star contributed 22 goals with the royal team in the European Champions League in 100 matches, scored 7 goals and provided 15 assists, and won the Champions League title with Real Madrid 5 times.
Luka Modric has signed a five-year contract with Real Madrid after leaving Tottenham in a deal worth an estimated £35 million.
