Hat-trick hero Haaland makes Premier League history as Man City thrash Nottingham Forest

The Young Norwegian star and Manchester City striker Erling Haaland became the first player in Premier League history to score two hat-tricks in the same August as Man City thrashed Forest down to size on Wednesday at Etihad Stadium in the fifth round of the English Premier League. He is now the first player in the Premier League era to score 9 goals in his first 5 games, with many backing the Norwegian forward to better Andy Cole and Alan Shearer's record high of 34 goals in a season, as he beat Mick Quinn and Sergio Aguero, both with 8 goals. Haaland now has 9 goals in 5 Premier League games since joining City from Borussia Dortmund – the best start of any player in the competition’s history at this stage. He surpassed the record of eight goals previously held by Micky Quinn and City great Sergio Aguero, the man he is effectively replacing at the Etihad Stadium. The only side to have exceeded the 18 goals City have scored after five games of a Premier League season were Manchester United, who had 21 to their name at this stage 11 years ago, Tony Yeboa 25 games, and Fernando Torres 25 games as well. Haaland also raised his score to 71 goals in 72 matches in the German and English leagues.
