Benfica took a big stride towards qualifying for the Champions League group stage Wednesday by defeating Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 in Poland in the first leg of their play-off tie. The teams played at Władysław Krol Stadium in Łódź, Poland.
Gilberto Junior Moraes scored in the 10th minute of the match, and in the 37th – striker Goncalo Ramos. The Portuguese team will host its counterpart, Dynamo Kyiv, in the second leg next Tuesday, at "Al-Nour" stadium.

In another match, Azerbaijan's Qarabag Agdam tied with its guest, Viktoria Plzeň from Czech 0-0. The 2022/23 UEFA Champion’s League group stage draw takes place in Istanbul, Turkey, on Thursday 25 August.
