Xavi's Comments after a disappointing start for Barcelona in the La Liga opener 

A disappointing start for Xavi and his Barcelona team after playing out a 0-0 draw against a resilient Rayo Vallecano in their La Liga season opener. After a summer of fantasy signings, Barcelona was brought crashing back into reality with a frustrating 0-0 at home to a well-drilled Rayo Vallecano side on the first Saturday night of the new La Liga season. Barcelona kicked off the new LaLiga season in disappointing fashion.  Xavi Hernandez’s side huffed and puffed. 
Barcelona boss Xavi says: "It was not the best match for us, we reached the penalty area, but we were not effective. We created chances, but we missed the goal, but we have to continue believing and working hard, and we have to analyze the game well and improve it." “I have already said that we have to continue to be strong and we have time until August 31 [when the transfer window closes]Xavi said in a press conference after the match.
“But I don’t want to use that as an excuse [for the Rayo result]. I understand the disappointment, the expectations are really high. We will have to analyze and improve the game and continue to believe in the gameplay model. “In general, we did not play a big game, but every player is trying to give his best Ryo defended well, it was hard for us to create [chances] usually. It’s a shame because we wanted to show the fans that we’re on a good path. It’s disappointing, but we ask for patience.”
He continued: "I understand the frustration the fans are feeling at the moment, we had many expectations, and now we have to analyze the match well, and then improve and continue to believe in the project. I do not want to look for excuses, but we have to be patient."
Xavi concluded his statements by saying: “Our goal is to achieve success, the goal is to win trophies, and this draw does not change anything. If we do not win trophies, it will be a frustrating season for me and the club. We have to ask a lot from each other.”
