An Algerian fellow star reunites Liverpool with Salah

UK press reports predict that Liverpool could make a €40 million bid for Milan's Algerian international midfielder Ismael Bennacer as Jurgen Klopp steps up the pursuit of bringing a new midfielder. The Reds are expected to make a €40 million bid in the coming days despite the player having a €50 million release clause in his AC Milan contract. The former Arsenal youngster failed to make his way to north London under Arsene Wenger, but he has since established himself as a regular in the Rossoneri side playing with Stefano Pioli. Bennacer only started 15 out of the 31 league matches last season, his contribution was still significant in 31 Serie A matches last season, and the Algerian international started 15 of those matches, as the Rossoneri won the Italian League title. There are only two more years left on Bennacer's contract at the San Siro, which has led to speculation about his possible return to the Premier League for the 2022-23 season.
Calciomercato newspaper said that Liverpool is also planning to sign the 24-year-old for €40 million, as the player has a release clause of €50 million in his current contract with Milan, and the Rossoneri may try to keep these fees at first. Bennacer has now contributed three goals and five assists in 105 games to Milan over the past three years and is linked with a move to Liverpool at a time when Red fans are increasingly frustrated with the club's refusal to sign a new midfielder.
