It’s a surprise! Lukaku loan agreement shows how much Chelsea doesn’t want him back

It was no secret that Chelsea and Romelu Lukaku had a strained relationship in recent months, yet was not evident just how fractured the connection between the player and the club had become. Lukaku does not seem to have any intention of returning to Chelsea, and the surprise is that the feeling is mutual as the Blues also want it, with reports indicating there is an agreement in principle to leave him on loan at Inter for the second season.
The striker was sold to the Premier League last summer for 113 million euros and has regretted the decision, and has wanted to return since December 2021. Lukaku returned on loan for €7 million plus €3 million in performance-related bonuses. It is clear that Inter wants to get rid of him permanently, but Inter cannot pay the 100 million euros, and Chelsea does not need him again under Thomas Tuchel.
According to the Daily Mail and the Telegraph, the two clubs knew this would happen and had already reached an agreement in principle to leave Lukaku on loan in the 2023-24 season as well.
The striker has already slashed his salary to make the loan smooth and will do so again, perhaps even with a discount on the €7m add-on fee plus €3m
