Christian Pulisic scored on home soil in the 30 minutes of the match, but Chelsea found the going tough against a determined and energized Charlotte FC. Daniel Rios equalized in the last minute of the match through a penalty kick.

Chelsea beat Club America, Mexico in a friendly 2-1, last Sunday, in preparation for the start of the English Premier League. Chelsea is scheduled to meet their neighbor Arsenal in the London derby next Sunday.
