Barcelona: Gavi contract's renewal is on the right track

Spanish press reports revealed that negotiations between Barcelona officials and 17-year-old star Gavi to renew the latter’s contract are going on the right track. The 17-year-old’s current deal stands to expire in 2023 and has a release clause worth €50 million in it, leaving the club exposed to overtures from interested parties. Talks over an extension have been going on for a while but an agreement is yet to be reached.
Marca, the Spanish newspaper reported that there is optimism between Barcelona and Gavi’s agent for the renewal, but there is no final agreement so far between the two parties.
The newspaper added that the choice of Jaffe as one of the players who appeared in the announcement of the second shirt of the Catalan team indicates a state of harmony between the two sides and an indication of the continuation of the young player with Barca.
The newspaper pointed out that Barcelona is seeking to renew Gabi's contract until 2028, with a fabulous penalty clause of up to 1 billion euros.
