AC Milan  to officially announce the renewals of Maldini contract

According to reports in Italy, Milan will announce Paolo Maldini’s contract extension today or tomorrow. The contract of the former defender runs out on June 30 and there had been doubts about his stay at the Stadio Meazza due to different visions with club owners over the Rossoneri’s development. Ricky Massara will also commit his future to the Diavoli by signing a new contract.
The primary Italian papers report that both directors will sign a new deal until 2024 with an option for a further campaign. Maldini had a positive meeting with future club owner Gerry Cardinale earlier this month and is determined to strengthen the team for next season despite a limited transfer budget.
Maldini had been negotiating with Sven Botman and Lille for several months, but the Dutch center-back eventually decided to join Newcastle. The Rossoneri want to avoid the same scenario with Renato Sanches and still hope to secure his services despite a strong interest from PSG who are ready to outbid the Serie A champions by offering €30m to Lille.
Maldini returned to Milan as a director in 2018 and, along with Massara and Geoffrey Moncada, has built the team that surprisingly won the Scudetto in 2021-22.
