Barcelona eyes ambitious Lionel Messi reunion from PSG in 2023!

Barcelona believes that the appointment of Xavi could lure Lionel Messi back to the Catalan club when his contract expires at Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 if the striker decides not to sign a new contract at PSG. The 34-year-old only left the Camp Nou in the summer after the Blaugrana were unable to extend his contract due to their dire financial situation, as he eventually signed a two-year deal with Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi finished the 2021-22 season with 11 goals and 14 assists in 34 games in all competitions, but he only found the net on six occasions in the French League and faced criticism for his performance.
The Argentina international legend has already confirmed that he will stay with PSG next season, but his contract will expire in June 2023, with an option for another 12 months.
Messi recently told TyC Sports: "Next season will be better for me with PSG, I'm sure; it wasn't easy after that crazy summer." He added: "It was really difficult to understand what happened, I didn't expect to leave Barcelona - it was a shock, I had everything in Barcelona, I went to Barcelona when I was very young, I lived in Barcelona more than Argentina, the truth is that I don't have any Plans to change anything.
He continued, "Fortunately, the children adapted well, but for me and Antonella it was more difficult."
Messi scored 672 goals and scored 302 assists in 777 games with Barcelona before his sudden exit, and the Catalan club president, Joan Laporta, is often asked about the striker's return to the Camp Nou.
In a recent interview with L'Esportiu, Laporta said: "We would have liked Messi to stay, but it wasn't like that, and it wasn't because of the FFP rules in La Liga and the offers of Paris Saint-Germain, when players are like this, they find that they cannot leave. Because the deals are worth several million euros."
The report claims that a move to the Premier League is also an option for the Argentine, as Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United can sign him.
Meanwhile, it is also claimed that a return to Argentina or the MLS is an option for Messi in the latter stages of his career. The father of striker Jorge Messi said last month that he hoped his son would return to Barcelona before the end of his career.
"I hope one day that will happen," Jorge Messi told Jijantes FC. The striker won ten La Liga titles, seven Copa del Rey titles, and four Champions League titles during a very successful spell at the Camp Nou.
Messi helped PSG win the French league last season, but the French giants failed again in the Champions League, as Real Madrid beat Liverpool in the final to lift the cup for the 14th time in their history.
