Ukraine beat the odds and qualified for the World Cup play-off final
Ukraine beat Scotland in an emotional game to qualify for the World Cup play-off final, just under 100 days since Russia invaded their country. Ukraine beat Scotland 3-1 in an emotional game at Hampden Park to qualify for the World Cup play-off final to face Wales .The game was just 33 minutes old when West Ham United winger Andriy Yarmolenko scored a brilliant goal to give Ukraine a 1-0 lead. In the second half, Roman Yarimchuk boosted the visitors' lead in the 49th minute, and Callum McGregor reduced the score for Scotland by scoring the first goal in the 79th minute, then Artem Dubiak ended the hat-trick of the Ukrainian team in the fifth minute of extra time.
The match was initially scheduled for March but later postponed to this June, due to the Russian military operations in Ukraine .The Ukrainian national team will face its counterpart Wales in the final of the European play-off after the latter beat Austria with two goals to one in the semi-finals.
Ukraine will face Wales for a place at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after a 3-1 win over Scotland at Hampden Park set up Sunday's playoff clash in Cardiff, after the latter beat Austria 2-1 in the semi-finals.
