Eintracht Frankfurt ends 62-year wait to return to the UCL

Eintracht Frankfurt beat Rangers 5-4 on penalties on Wednesday in Seville to win the Europa League title and claim their first European trophy in 42 years. The result means Eintracht Frankfurt will return to the Champions League for the first time since 1960 when they reached the final and lost to Real Madrid in their only participation in Europe’s top club competition. The 62-year wait to return to the UCL is the longest by any team in the competition’s history.
Five of the Bundesliga's 18 clubs will be playing European football next season after Eintracht Frankfurt won the 2021/22 Europa League. These football clubs are: Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and finally Eintracht Frankfurt.
The German winning UCL champion will face the European Super Cup against the winner of the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Liverpool, on August 10, at Helsinki Olympic Stadium in Finland.
