Man City Set to Close Haaland Deal after Agreeing on Terms With forwarding's Camp
Manchester City is expected to finalize a deal for Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland this week or so after reaching an agreement with the Norwegian's representatives over a summer move to the Etihad Stadium, according to a new UK press report. Reports indicated that Only the club's official announcement of the deal remains in this regard.
The Premier League champion has made the Norwegian striker one of its priority targets in the summer transfer window, as Pep Guardiola is keen to bring in a new central striker ahead of next season.
A report by the "Athletic" website indicated that Manchester City had already agreed to personal terms with Haaland and that the 21-year-old had indicated that he was ready to join Guardiola's team.
The report claims that City has finalized all agreements with Haaland, and an official announcement is expected this week. The City will pay €75m (£64.2m) as a penalty clause, while the striker is reported to earn a salary of around £500,000 a week. Haaland has quickly established himself as one of the most prominent strikers in Europe since his move to Dortmund in December 2019, scoring 85 goals in 88 matches for the Bundesliga.
Speaking on Sunday, Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl said he expects Haaland's future to be clarified this week and that the move has been postponed due to the death of striker Mino Raiola's agent.
"I know what is in the contract, we are bound by the exit clause, we have tried in the past few months to come to a decision on Erling's future, but then came the death of Mino Raiola," Kiel told "Sport1".
He continued: "Unfortunately, the problem persisted for a bit, but I think we will have a clear view next week.”
