Officially : Koeman Returns as Netherlands Head Coach from 2023

Former Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman will take over as Netherlands boss from Louis van Gaal after this year's World Cup, starting from January 2023, t the Dutch football federation said on Wednesday. The Dutch Association announced that Ronald Koeman is to return as Netherlands coach when Louis van Gaal leaves the role after the World Cup in Qatar.

Van Gaal gave his welcome to Koeman to coach the Dutch national team, starting next year, stressing that the former Barcelona coach will be able to lead the team during the coming period.

Koeman had left the Netherlands training before the last Euro 2020 competitions in order to train the Barcelona team, before he was dismissed by the Spanish giants in October last year after 14 difficult months in charge which included the departure of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint-Germain as the club plunged into financial difficulties.
Van Gaal managed to lead the Dutch national team to represent in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, after Netherlands absence from the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
