Doha is a candidate to host the Egyptian Super Cup
The Qatari capital, Doha, has emerged as a potential host for the next edition of the Egyptian Super Cup, amid ongoing discussions and negotiations to select a host country after the tournament's initial venue fell through. Qatar is considered a leading contender to host the Egyptian football event, with consultations underway regarding the feasibility of holding matches in Qatari stadiums and leveraging Doha's organizational capabilities and sports infrastructure. These developments follow the UAE's withdrawal from hosting the tournament, which was initially scheduled for November. This prompted the organizers to explore alternative venues, with several Gulf countries, including Qatar and Kuwait, being considered as potential hosts. The upcoming edition is expected to feature four Egyptian clubs: Zamalek, the Egyptian Premier League champions; Pyramids FC, the Egyptian Cup winners; and Al Masry, the League Cup champions. The fourth Egyptian team, which will qualify via a wildcard entry, is yet to be determined. Al Ahly of Egypt stands out among the clubs vying for a spot in the tournament via a golden ticket, given its massive fan base and history in domestic and continental competitions. However, the identity of the fourth participant awaits official confirmation of the final details. Egyptian clubs are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the tournament's venue and start date, especially since changing the host country necessitates finalizing several arrangements related to organization, accommodation, and match schedules. Should Doha be chosen to host the event, Egyptian fans in Qatar will be treated to highly anticipated matches featuring Egypt's top clubs in a tournament expected to garner significant public and media attention. The hosting file remains open until a final decision is made, amidst hopes that the upcoming edition will be exceptionally well-organized and attract a large audience, reflecting the technical and historical value of the Egyptian Super Cup.
