Messi's reaction to Miguel's death

Argentine star Lionel Messi expressed his sorrow over the death of Jesús de Miguel, a player for the Spanish team Tenerife, who passed away at the age of 30 after suffering a serious injury during a second-division match . Messi posted a picture of the deceased player on his Instagram story, accompanied by a heartfelt message of condolence: "Words fail me. My deepest condolences and wishes strength and patience to all his family and friends. May God rest his soul ." The Argentine captain's statement came after the tragic incident during the match between Tenerife and Andorra on Monday evening, when Andorra's goalkeeper, Jesús Oño, collided heavily with de Miguel while they were competing for an aerial ball in stoppage time, with the score tied 2-2 . The Tenerife player suffered a cardiac arrest after the collision and collapsed unconscious on the field. Medical staff rushed him to the scene, and he was transported by ambulance to the hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care. He died approximately 12 hours after the incident . The wave of condolences extended to a number of the most prominent European institutions and clubs, as Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid mourned the deceased player, along with the Spanish Football Federation and the European Union “UEFA”, which announced a minute of silence in European competition matches this week in honor of his memory.
