Disastrous statistics for Liverpool players against Arsenal

Liverpool struggled offensively in their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday evening, in the ninth round of the English Premier League . Opta revealed a statistic highlighting Liverpool's struggles in front of goal, as the team failed to register a single shot on target in two consecutive matches against the Gunners . The Reds' last successful shot on target against Arsenal dates back to August 2025, when Dominik Szoboszlai converted a free kick, continuing their absence from posing a real threat to their opponents' goal in recent encounters . Despite Liverpool's possession and attacking efforts, they were unable to convert their dominance into clear-cut chances, even though their players recorded 28 touches inside the Arsenal penalty area in the first half – the most by any team against the Gunners in a first half in the Premier League since the 2008-2009 season, according to Opta statistics . The negative statistics didn't stop there. Opta pointed out that Liverpool have scored only four goals at Anfield in the Premier League this season, in their first five matches. This is their lowest home tally at this stage of the season, equaling their record from the 1913-14 and 2012-13 seasons . In contrast, Arsenal secured a crucial victory, ending their Anfield winless streak since 2012 and moving to second place with 24 points after nine rounds. This is their best points total at this stage since the 2012-23 season, when they also accumulated the same number of points.
