The International Football Association “FIFA” awarded a special award at the “The Best” awards ceremony to Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, Manchester United player body after becoming the top scorer in international football, breaking Ali Daei’s record and becoming the all-time leading scorer in history. Cristiano Ronaldo has been presented with the FIFA Special Award at 'The Best' award ceremony, in celebration of his all-time international scoring record.
The Manchester United forward was awarded the prestigious prize after he broke the international goal scoring record with an impressive 115 goals for Portugal. Speaking on Monday night, Ronaldo said: 'It is a dream. First of all, I have to say thank you to my team-mates in the national team in the last 20 years that I used to play with.
"I never thought [I would beat] the record, to score 115 - the record was 109, right? So, six goals ahead. I'm so proud for this special award from FIFA, an organisation I respect a lot.
Ronaldo now has 115 goals in 184 appearances for his nation and upon accepting the award. It is worth noting that Ronaldo has surpassed Ali Daei's record as the best international scorer in the history of football after reaching his 111th goal with the Portugal national team in 180 matches, but he has now reached the 115th goal after his last match with his country, while Ali Daei came after him with 109 goals for Iran in 149 games
