Chelsea agrees on terms of Joao Felix's loan with Atletico Madrid

Chelsea has struck a verbal agreement to sign the Portuguese Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid during the current winter Mercato. Chelsea has reportedly reached a verbal agreement to sign Joao Felix on loan from Atletico Madrid. Felix, 23, joined Atletico in a €126m (£113m) deal from Benfica in 2019 but has only shown flashes of his potential. Spanish network, “Reliview”, revealed last month that Chelsea, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United, had explored a deal to sign Felix, but Los Rojiblancos' financial demands threatened to block any move. However, sources have now confirmed that Atletico has agreed to lower their demands to facilitate a deal with Chelsea, who are expected to pay around €10m to take Felix on loan for the remainder of the campaign. Chelsea has agreed to pay the player's wages in full, while the agreement is not believed to include an option to buy. The report added that the Portuguese player will extend his contract with Roji Blancos for another year, until 2027, before leaving for Chelsea on loan.
Chelsea is trying to strengthen its ranks during the current winter Mercato, which suffers from a significant decline in results during the first half of the current season, as the team occupies a tenth place in the English Premier League standings table.
